About

Vectibix 100mg Injection is a monoclonal antibody, specifically an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitor, used in the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). It works by binding to the EGFR on the surface of cancer cells, thereby blocking the activation of signaling pathways that promote cell growth, proliferation, and survival. This targeted action leads to the inhibition of tumor growth and can induce apoptosis (programmed cell death) in cancer cells that overexpress EGFR. Vectibix is typically administered intravenously and is often used in patients whose tumors are wild-type RAS (i.e., without mutations in KRAS or NRAS genes), as these patients are more likely to respond to EGFR-targeted therapy.

It is often used as a monotherapy or in combination with chemotherapy regimens, particularly after failure of fluoropyrimidine-, oxaliplatin-, and irinotecan-containing chemotherapy. The treatment aims to extend progression-free survival and overall survival, improving the quality of life for patients with advanced colorectal cancer. Close monitoring for infusion-related reactions and dermatological toxicities is essential during therapy.
