About
VILPOWER M 1000 TAB is a combination medication containing Vildagliptin and Metformin, used for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Vildagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that works by enhancing the body's natural ability to control blood glucose levels. It increases the levels of active incretin hormones, GLP-1 and GIP, which stimulate insulin secretion and suppress glucagon secretion in a glucose-dependent manner. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily reduces hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal glucose absorption, and improves insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues. This synergistic action provides a comprehensive approach to managing hyperglycemia, leading to significant reductions in HbA1c levels. It is typically prescribed as an adjunct to diet and exercise when monotherapy is insufficient.
