About
Vylda DM100/10/500 is a triple-combination oral anti-diabetic medication designed for comprehensive management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It contains Vildagliptin (a DPP-4 inhibitor), Dapagliflozin 10mg (an SGLT2 inhibitor), and Metformin 500mg (a biguanide). This powerful combination targets multiple pathophysiological pathways: Vildagliptin enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion and suppresses glucagon; Dapagliflozin promotes glucose excretion via the kidneys, independent of insulin; and Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity.
This multi-faceted approach leads to significant reductions in HbA1c, fasting plasma glucose, and postprandial glucose levels. It is particularly beneficial for patients who have not achieved adequate glycemic control with dual therapy or who require a more aggressive treatment strategy to manage their diabetes and associated cardiovascular or renal risks.
Uses
- Comprehensive management of type 2 diabetes.
- Improving glycemic control in adults.
- When dual therapy is insufficient.
- Reducing blood sugar and HbA1c levels.
Directions For Use
Take orally, usually once or twice daily with meals, as directed by your physician.
Benefits
- Triple action for superior glycemic control.
- Significant reduction in HbA1c.
- May offer cardiovascular and renal benefits (Dapagliflozin).
- Promotes modest weight loss (Dapagliflozin, Metformin).
- Addresses multiple diabetes mechanisms.
- Convenient fixed-dose combination.
Side Effects
- Genital yeast infections (Dapagliflozin).
- Urinary tract infections (Dapagliflozin).
- Increased urination.
- Nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain.
- Headache, dizziness.
- Hypoglycemia (especially with other agents).
- Lactic acidosis (rare, serious, Metformin).
- Dehydration, hypotension.
- Ketoacidosis (rare, SGLT2 inhibitors).
- Vitamin B12 deficiency (Metformin).
- Nasopharyngitis.
- Back pain.
Safety Measures
- Alcohol - Avoid excessive alcohol consumption due to increased risk of lactic acidosis (Metformin) and potential for dehydration (Dapagliflozin).
- Pregnancy - Not recommended during pregnancy. Insulin is the preferred treatment. Dapagliflozin is contraindicated in the second and third trimesters.
- Breastfeeding - Avoid during breastfeeding as components may pass into breast milk. Consult your doctor.
- Liver - Contraindicated in severe liver impairment due to the Metformin component. Use with caution for Vildagliptin.
- Kidney - Contraindicated in severe renal impairment (eGFR <30 mL/min/1.73m²). Dose adjustment or discontinuation may be needed based on eGFR for all components.
- Lung - Use with caution in conditions causing hypoxia (e.g., severe lung disease) due to increased risk of lactic acidosis with Metformin.
