About

LENVA 4 MG, containing Lenvatinib, is a multi-kinase inhibitor that targets several receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) and other pro-angiogenic and oncogenic pathways. It specifically inhibits the kinase activities of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) 1, 2, and 3, fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) 1, 2, 3, and 4, platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR) alpha, KIT, and RET. This broad-spectrum inhibition makes Lenvatinib effective in treating various advanced cancers by simultaneously blocking tumor growth, angiogenesis, and other processes critical for cancer progression. It has demonstrated significant clinical benefits in differentiated thyroid cancer, renal cell carcinoma, and hepatocellular carcinoma.

The drug's ability to target multiple pathways involved in tumor development and maintenance contributes to its robust anti-tumor activity. Lenvatinib's mechanism of action helps to starve tumors of their blood supply and directly inhibit cancer cell proliferation. Due to its potent activity, careful monitoring for potential side effects, particularly hypertension and proteinuria, is crucial during treatment. Dose adjustments may be necessary to manage adverse reactions and ensure continued therapeutic benefit.

Uses

  • Treatment of differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) that is refractory to radioactive iodine.
  • Management of advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC) in combination with Everolimus.
  • Therapy for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
  • Treatment of advanced endometrial carcinoma (in combination with Pembrolizumab).

Directions For Use

Take orally once daily, with or without food. Swallow the capsule whole.

Safety Measures

  • Alcohol - Avoid or limit alcohol consumption due to the potential for increased liver toxicity and gastrointestinal irritation while on this medication.
  • Pregnancy - Not recommended during pregnancy as it can cause fetal harm. Women of childbearing potential must use effective contraception during treatment and for a period after.
  • Breastfeeding - Not recommended during breastfeeding as it is unknown if Lenvatinib is excreted in breast milk, posing a potential risk of serious adverse effects to the infant.
  • Liver - Use with caution in patients with liver impairment. Liver function should be monitored closely, and dose adjustments may be necessary in severe cases.
  • Kidney - Use with caution in patients with kidney impairment. Renal function should be monitored, and dose adjustments may be necessary in severe cases.
  • Lung - Rare cases of pulmonary embolism and interstitial lung disease have been reported. Monitor for new or worsening respiratory symptoms.
