Romiset 250mcg Injection is a platelet-stimulating agent that contains the active ingredient Romiplostim. It is used to treat immune primary thrombocytopenia (ITP), a condition where the immune system mistakenly destroys the body’s own platelets, resulting in low platelet counts. This medication is typically prescribed for adults and children aged 18 years and older when other treatments—such as corticosteroids, immunoglobulins, or splenectomy (surgical removal of the spleen)—have failed to improve platelet levels.

Romiset 250mcg is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to any of its components, particularly those produced using DNA technology involving the micro-organism Escherichia coli (E. coli). Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have liver issues, cancer, a recent surgical history, if you smoke, or if you are taking hormonal contraceptives. These factors may affect how safe and effective the medication is for you, and your doctor may need to adjust your treatment plan accordingly.

While on Romiset, your doctor will regularly monitor your blood tests to check for any changes in the bone marrow, as this medication has been associated with significant bone marrow alterations. If abnormalities are found, your physician will assess their importance and decide whether to continue or stop treatment.

Romiset 250mcg Injection is not recommended during pregnancy unless clearly prescribed by your doctor. Be sure to inform your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or think you may be pregnant. It is also unknown whether this medication passes into breast milk, so breastfeeding should be avoided during treatment.
