TENELIGLIP M 500MG TAB is a fixed-dose combination medication containing Teneligliptin and Metformin, indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. Teneligliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that works by increasing the levels of active incretin hormones, glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). These hormones play a crucial role in glucose homeostasis by stimulating insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and suppressing glucagon release from alpha cells in a glucose-dependent manner, thereby lowering blood glucose levels.

Metformin, a biguanide, acts through different mechanisms, primarily by reducing hepatic glucose production and improving insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues, leading to enhanced glucose uptake and utilization.
