About

Rahika 200mg Tablet is an oral antifungal agent belonging to the azole class, widely used for the treatment of various systemic and superficial fungal infections. Its primary mechanism of action involves inhibiting the fungal cytochrome P450 enzyme 14-alpha-demethylase, which is crucial for the biosynthesis of ergosterol. Ergosterol is an essential component of the fungal cell membrane, maintaining its structural integrity and function. By disrupting ergosterol synthesis, Rahika leads to an accumulation of methylated sterols and a depletion of ergosterol, resulting in increased fungal cell membrane permeability, leakage of cellular contents, and ultimately, fungal cell death. This broad-spectrum activity makes it effective against a range of Candida species, Cryptococcus neoformans, and other susceptible fungi, providing a convenient and potent option for managing conditions like candidiasis and cryptococcal meningitis.
